Fix Magento Ecommerce Localhost Login Issues

Are you running Magento on a Localhost such as wamp? You may encounter an Admin panel login error after installation. There are a couple of things you can do to fix this problem.

There are a number of posts that say you have to edit the host file. It’s actually simpler then that. Go to C:\wamp\www\magento\app\code\core\Mage\Core\Model\Session\Abstract or wherever your wamp directory is with the same path.

Open up Varien.php in a text editor. Find the line that says …

call_user_func_array(‘session_set_cookie_params’, $cookieParams);

In Magento 1.3.1 it was on line 100. Comment out this line using // e.g.

Line 78.

// call_user_func_array(‘session_set_cookie_params’, $cookieParams);

Replace with:

session_set_cookie_params(
$this->getCookie()->getLifetime(),
$this->getCookie()->getPath()
//$this->getCookie()->getDomain(),
//$this->getCookie()->isSecure(),
//$this->getCookie()->getHttponly()

Save document. You should now be able to login to your Magento Admin panel.
